Notes: Bought this truck for $2500 on 10/24/13 who had it for about 10 years. Needed something to replace my previous 96 Bronco as a daily driver. It originally had 227k miles but for the price and how desperate I was for a new truck I couldn't resist. Even with this many miles its still had plenty of power. It needed plenty of work but nothing I cant handle and nothing serious. it might not be my favorite truck but I still like it a lot. Planned on keeping it mostly stock. i was hoping to keep it a mostly stock truck which lasted about 2 years.

Eventually i decided to get an aftermarket valvebody for the transmission but unfortunately i was given an incorrect one and wrong gaskets. The tranny was crippled with very weak reverse so i started planning an engine and tranny rebuild. what started as a mild engine rebuild turned into a stroked and bored high power engien build. about a year later the engine finally started showing extreme wear with low oil pressure and power and despite the tranny still being crippled it was working. the engine build is done but the original tranny is still kicking

while i was gathering parts for the engine rebuild, i realized that the stock axle was no longer gonna handle the power. the axle got damaged at one point so i started building an axle that can handle plenty of power. i had an idea of taking a semi-floating axle from a F250, replace the axleshafts with custom ones build for 5x5.5 pattern and a disk brake conversion. i found a semi-floating 10.25 Sterling axle which should be loads stronger than the original 8.8 axle. i ended up regearing the axle to 4.10 gears with a junkyard Trac-Lok limited slip differential. due to the semi-floating 10.25 axle being very uncommon, there are no aftermarket differentials available so the best i can do is a factory style Trac-Lok

after finding a group to start offroading again, i decided that i would go ahead and have the truck build more for offroading. i found someone selling a cheap used 6" lift which i used and modified to install a 5.5 inch long travel link in the front. i added a TrueTrac limited slip in the front. the rear i lifted with F250 leaf springs adding 3" of lift and added a 3" lift block with massive u-bolts to effectively make a 6" lift.

the floor in back of my truck was REALLY bad and smashing my fuel tank even. I decided to cut the floor mostly out. I welded some steel strips as support for the floor. I then made a 1/8" thick steel floor to mount ontop. its fastened to the supports...

Got the arms done. Because of the trans crossmember, i could not go full length of the kit but they are still plenty long. I did upgrade the main 9/16" bolt to a 3/4" bolt.

The kit is designed to weld the mounts directly to the frame. I decided i wanted it to be bolt-on to the frame instead. So i bought some 1/4" steel plate and welded the outrigger, plate, and mount so it is a easily bolted on to the frame yet very stu...

This kit requires alot of welding for what seems pretty simple. But the kit works pretty good

Dont judge my welds too bad, i did several passes with them and they have plenty of penetration. I will clean them up to be very smooth once done

Front axle is now useable but will probably be changed up at some point. It does not drive very well in this current state. need to do something about tracbar, mount lower coil bucket better, maybe better steering stabilizer.

In order to try and gain some camber as easy as i can. I modified the stock Superduty arms so the upper axle mounting point is inward more to increase caster.

To do so i cut a bit out of the top of the arms between the mounting tabs. i then weld a G...

This is a 10.25" Sterling axle I got from a 97 F250 (newer body style). it is semi-floating, has 3.55 gears with open differential. it has an odd 7-lug pattern instead of the normal 8-lug but this shouldn't be a problem regardless since I am goi...

I never knew Ford used a 7-lug axle in a 3/4 ton truck or ever for that matter. I figured they would use 8-lug for all 3/4 ton applications and am unsure why they even would want to switch to a 7-lug.

Either way it wont matter in the long run

7-lug axleshaft vs my new 5-lug axleshaft.

the hub doesn't stick out very far. this doesn't bother me too much but it would have been nice if the hub went far enough to reach inside the wheel more.
