Acquired in TX by a neighbor who travels. He got it with bald TSL Super Swampers, fresh blue paint & bedliner everywhere else to hide some of the sheet metal problems, and REALLY-nicely upholstered original seats. No front suspension bushings to speak of; no door panels; no PS fluid; body seals in a box; slanted (but parallel) track bar & drag link; a floppy headlight; a floppier battery; droopy headliner; stuck hub lock knobs; spoiled gas in the front tank venting into the cab; RatNest brand wiring (thoroughly bedlined); and the heaviest but worst-built front & rear receivers conceivable. The engine ran OK when it ran, but it was hard to start cold, and it stalled briefly under hard acceleration. That has mostly been fixed by cleaning & tuning the carb, and replacing the fuel pump. One of the mufflers was exploded & rubbing the driveshaft, but the exhaust has been replaced closer to original. There were several slow fluid leaks, but not very active while parked. Rain hits the driver's Left foot through the vent, and there were at least a dozen open holes in the firewall & floor allowing engine air in (now plugged). But it blows out through all the body gaps just as quickly. It would be a helluva trail truck if the paint wasn't so nice. |

Headlights.jpg 288 hits | 101.88 KB | Posted: 4/20/22 Rather than continue to fight the antique headlights, these modern projectors were swapped in. They're mildly goofy with the color-changing ring, but the color was eventually set close to the body blue. The rings turn amber with the turn signals & fl...

20201122_164756.jpg 224 hits | 84.83 KB | Posted: 11/22/20 The trailer wiring adapter is simply plugged in between the taillight connectors (C320) and grounded to the body. Another ground wire was added from the core support to this same screw. IF THE IMAGE IS TOO SMALL, click it.
20201025_165016.jpg 204 hits | 95.4 KB | Posted: 11/22/20 The tailpipe hanger interfered with the hitch receiver, so it was cut off & welded back on. Then the receiver was positioned, drilled, & bolted to the frame, with the gas tank skidplate captive. IF THE IMAGE IS TOO SMALL, click it.
20201024_180613.jpg 227 hits | 78.76 KB | Posted: 11/22/20 This door strike was about to break off its mounting plate, and its collar is still cracked. But it's solid now, and if the door is slammed hard enough, it's flush with the body. But then it's difficult to push the button. IF THE IMAGE IS TOO SMALL, ...

20190515_100201.jpg 859 hits | 98.59 KB | Posted: 6/18/19 It has a 20-foot paint job, and it runs & drives (sort of), but it needs a lot of work.
20191117_163547.jpg 568 hits | 72.31 KB | Posted: 11/17/19 The driver's vent window pivot bolt has always been broken, so I pulled the door apart and disassembled the frame. The L-bolt's spring is rust-welded into a solid chunk, including the rusted remains of the L-bolt. After cracking it free, I knocked ...
20191117_162046.jpg 560 hits | 75.21 KB | Posted: 11/17/19 This dome/map lamp is common in ~90s~00s Fords, and never seems to show its age. So I fished 3 wires through the cage, screwed a flexible conduit across the floor, and welded up a thin steel box for the lamp to mount under. The map lamps are aimed ...
20191115_110837.jpg 520 hits | 91.29 KB | Posted: 11/17/19 These inexpensive seat belts were relatively easy to add. The rears simply bolted down (with newer bolts, since the originals were rusted & bedlined). The fronts required welding 4 nuts into the cage. I also had to free-up the driver's seat slide s...
20191110_181018.jpg 508 hits | 77.96 KB | Posted: 11/10/19 The front cable's tab has to be attached to the body, so I had no choice but to build a bracket (with the original tab welded in) & bolt it back to what floor was available. It's very solid, and with the 3 new cables connected to the new brakes tha...
