There's some noticeable bumpsteer with the stock pitman arm being unaligned to the track bar. It's actually worse than it appears from this angle. (2/26/07)

Pitman arm swap. (2/26/07)

This is after installing the correct drop pitman arm. (2/26/07) It's actually better than it appears from this angle.

Frank has been driving this way for about a year, with no major problems. It's much better than before we installed the drop pitman arm & hi-ratio PS box. But he wants the track bar frame pivot where it belongs, behind the end of the pitman arm. So he bought a loose (no box/instructions) drop bracket and asked me to install it.

I test fitted the bracket by pulling the track bar bolt and dropping the bar (the truck didn't move in relation to the axle) so I could eyeball where the bracket should go. But I immediately noticed that it's not sitting flat against the original frame bracket, and NONE of the holes align with the frame holes.

Here, it's obvious how far away from the frame the new bracket is.
It's pushed up as far as possible (against the bottom of the frame), and the hole in the original bracket is barely visible in the bottom of this upper hole.
Just another angle showing how it sits.

Since it doesn't lie flat with the bolt in, I removed it to see how far away it is from the track bar eye when it's flat against the frame bracket. THIS FAR.

But pressing against the frame bracket does nothing to align it with the hole.
So here it is flat against the frame AND pushed down until the upper hole is aligned with the one in the frame bracket.

It's obvously flat against the frame, but it's equally obvious that the holes aren't drilled straight down from the original location, so the track bar needs to be shortened. But this adjustable track bar is already as short as it can get.

THAT's where it goes: on a '76-77 frame. No wonder it didn't fit on a '75.
The white line painted on the frame at the top of the pic is a level line from the #4 & #5 body mount positions.
