2nd owner. Bought with 50k on ticker to drive on beaches of NC. Now is full on DD trail rig. Winch, snorkle, custom bumpers, roof rack with lights, waterproofed engine compartment. Still drive it 70 miles a day to work and back and roves the 400 acre farm I live on. Also pulls out Hummers and 1tons for fun. 33" Uniroyal MTs for excellent mud slinging, rock crawling, trail riding action. Still take it to town to buy groceries. |

Ona recent trip to the alapaha a the rocks on the north end i got high centered and tried to power through. I think that this is when i spun my pasenger side carrier bearing. this caused a slew of damage. tore up the gears, busted the carrier, broke a bearing cap. This is when i decided to go ahead and regear. I had chipped teeth on the front from a bad pinion bearing previously so i decided ot go ahead and gear down to 4.11. I thought this would be a good ratio with my 33s and many highway miles. Got a new trac loc for the rear and the gears, master install kits, then I tried to get a new bearing cap. Turns out no one will sell me jsut a bearing cap since its line honed and punched from the same stock as the chunk. A local driveline shop has some and they were all identical. Worked great and the truck is so awesome. I forgot how much low end torque I lost with the larger tires. Getting same gas mileage and offroad its so much better I cant believe it.
