45manifolo.jpg Before installing the new manifolds, I sanded off as much of the soot & rust as I could from the mating surfaces.  Later, I rinsed them with brake cleaner & coated them with common chassis grease, just like Ford did at the factory.  I also rinsed out the open bolt holes, and the EGR inverted flare nut, lubed it with penetrating oil, and coated its threads with anti-seize.

Later, I learned that the head surface was too pitted for the grease to seal, so I had to pull both manifolds off again & re-seal with red RTV.
