The factory only put this hanger (E6TZ-5A246-B) on F-series Y-pipes, but I think it's a good idea for Broncos, too. I welded the rod on the Y-pipe such that the rubber hanger angles slightly forward; this will allow the pipe to extend rearward as it heats up. My '83 also has this support because I used an F150 Y-pipe when I swapped in the used 4.9L.

This was the last thing to weld on before painting this Y-pipe. The hardest part was locating the holes to drill in the frame, but eventually, I cheated by knocking the studs out of the bracket.

Now I can put that '96 muffler back on my '83 (when it stops raining).
