We already knew the engine mounts were broken, and that the pan gasket needed replacement, and that the valve cover gaskets had problems. But I didn't realize how bad the left VCG was leaking. I have to wonder if the oil journals in the head are blocked, so I'm re-thinking pulling the plenum & valve covers now... I also didn't realize the intake manifold had been off, but Ford didn't leave wads of silicone across the valley. The rust in the back of the crankshaft is from the torque converter pilot, which might be explained by the mud that worked its way between the block & the shim plate. This is another sign that this truck was mudded deep. The check valve broke as I began pulling the hose off it.

I've also begun to consider the financial sense of pulling the timing cover while the oil pan is off.
