03xcesspnl.jpg After checking the relay, inertia switch, & connectors (all good), I cut the fuel pump access hole. I scrubbed the tank plate while rinsing the mud out, and then blew it out with shop air. I let the pump run (engine off) just to see how it would behave, but I noticed the metal nipples were uncomfortably hot, indicating that the pump motor itself was heating the fuel. It apparently got so hot that it boiled the fuel inside the FDM, causing itself to starve. When I pulled the tank plate, I found the O-ring hadn't been installed correctly, so some of my rinse water had run inside the tank, with whatever else had gotten in over the past years (since the pump was replaced). I used a squeeze-bulb & extension tube to extract most of it. After replacing the pump, I sealed the panel & screwed it down such that the cargo floor won't flex much.
