Quick-Connect Cleaning

Before putting a tool into a fuel line quick-connect, take a few minutes to blast out as much dirt, sand, & gravel as possible so the bails inside can be released. Anything that's under the bails' fingers can cause them to be bent by any tool, which makes them MUCH-harder to release. DO NOT USE solvents like WD40, penetrants like PBBlaster and LiquidWrench, flowable grease, or silicone grease. Brake cleaner & carb cleaner are OK, but not as good as, and much more-expensive than water.
F-series front tanks are fairly easy to blast from the passenger wheelwell shooting across the frame, as is the rear tank's lock ring. Blasting the rear quick-connects is harder without removing the bed, which is a good idea anyway. Read this page:
