Starting to tackle grinding the flanges flat. My 6x48 belt sander just barely has enough range to get the whole flange at once. This is an early shot. I black out the flange with a huge Sharpie and then sand it a bit. The Sharpie helps show where the sander is taking away material. The weld around the ports pulls the flange in a bit so those are high spots on the cylinder head side. Which is how you'd want it anyway. The very ends warped more which was an issue. This was with welding them while bolted to a steel bar.
