The large gold object is the oil pressure sender, which is installed in a 45-degree union on a 4" long 1/4" galvanized pipe nipple that's screwed into the port on the block for the factory pressure switch. The angled union allows it to clear the oil cooler & the P/S pump.
This & a jumper wire across the resistor on the back of the instrument cluster makes the gauge show the real pressure, instead of just going to the center.
