To complete the alignment, the latch & strike must be installed. This later style of lock motor must be installed onto the latch before the latch goes in the door because its operating rod is hooked. Connecting the outside lock cylinder rod was difficult because I'm using an older black-faced lock cylinder, which uses a metal arm. This lock rod has a Z-bend for the later plastic lock cylinder arm, so it doesn't fit well in the plastic clip for this arm.
This latch is the last design, including the black bag over the cable end. If your cable is exposed, contact your local Ford dealer about the safety recall.
