servicedvdinstall01.jpg This album shows the '03-04 DVD, but this procedure applies to the '02-08 DVDs as well.

Here are the 5 DVDs I have:
'92-96 Archive (June 01) no TSBs or FSAs
'96-02 Archive v5.0 (April 06) no TSBs or FSAs
{Those 2 above contain ALL the same info as on the 19 CDs except '03 Cars}
'03-04 v11.0 (Dec 08 ) requires date change
'05-06 v7.0 (Aug 05) requires date change
'07-08 v8.0 (Aug 06) requires date change, no '08 service manuals; very few '07 models
"Date change" means you set your computer's date to before the
expiration date temporarily while you're using the DVD. When you finish, you correct your computer's date.

For instructions on using the older CDs & '92-02 DVDs, see this album:

Getting these disks to run under Win7 or later requires some extra steps, and someone else is working on compiling those instructions. I don't know about Linux or other OSs.

Before attempting to install or use a Ford Service Disk, check for a date on the disk label indicating expiration. Most DVDs for '02-up have an expiration date. If so, adjust your computer's clock (usually in the lower right of the START bar) to BEFORE the indicated date. To allow access to the data without re-inserting the disk, copy it to the root folder of a drive letter on your system, or mount it to a virtual drive using DaemonTools. Another option is to copy it to a USB flash drive. There can be other folders on that drive letter, but only one service disk, and it MUST be in the root.

In either case, run the Setup.exe or Install.exe file in the disk's root folder. The program will always look for the data to be in the same drive letter from which it was installed, which will matter later if you have 2 optical drives. Remember to correct your system's date before receiving direct e-mail, browsing the internet, or installing any other software.

Before beginning the installation, familiarize yourself with the version numbers of the software already installed on your system; particularly, Adobe Reader, Adobe SVG Viewer, MDAC, and any others mentioned in the NEXT few pictures & captions.
