On the next trail we found some very wet crusty snow. It wasn't very deep but was very nasty wet stuff. At one point I managed to get pretty well crossed up in the trail but with some patience and work managed to pull out of it. Just a little further up the trail Chris had another opportunity to use his winch when he started sliding off the trail. Apparently during the recovery his brakes where damaged, the pedal was very mushy and would go down nearly to the floor to stop. It was now four o'clock so we turned around and cautiously made our way out.
