Upon returning my flat tire to the used tire store on 05May2016 and being taken on a tour through the shop by the owner, I saw a mechanic quickly take the flat tire off the rim and place it onto the floor. I stepped over and took photos. I clearly saw there was a fresh tar-like goo(?) around the entire bead on both sides of the tire, with some goo smeared onto the sidewall and rim. I'd never before seen a goo like this on a tire bead. I assume the tire shop uses it to help seal the tire, but they never responded to my questions about the goo.
