I'm in the market for a new X and am disappointed with the lack of color combinations for the exterior.
I'm looking at either an Eddie Bauer or Limited since they include some options I want that aren't available on the XLT.
But what's with the two-tone on the Eddie Bauer and the lack of colors on the Limited?
I just want a nice clean looking truck. I don't want tan running boards or gold trim (silver or dark grey would be much more acceptable)!
And on the limited they only have what 3 colors?!?!
Anybody have any solutions? If I got an Eddie Bauer I could repaint the trim but then what do you do with the tan running boards?
In the Limiteds' case repainting the whole vehicle is not an option.

Yes, there are some "monchromatic"? colors now....
I got an all black '03 limited - painted bumpers and all....
here are some pics -->http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/displaygallery.php?userid=59556
in fact, my dealer started spec'ing out some different color paint jobs themself !
The GM told me they sell as soon as they put them out on the floor...
with special wheels etc... to make them look unique !

I wasn't aware of the No Boundaries edition. Do they come in any other colors than black?
I love black but on such a large truck I'd rather have a low maintenance color. |

Black is the only No Boundaries version of the X as far as I know. The only other color combos are the monochromatic ones as mentioned above. They would be the newer 2003+ models from what I can remember. No Boundaries was first offered in 2002. 2000-2001 were pretty much your 2-tone color combos on the Limiteds.

I really went between the mono black and the "beige" - it was mono also and looked nice...
in fact the parchment interior looks a lot better with it than the black... but I still like the black best !!!
and as far as maintenance of black.... I get the exterior washed once a week for $5.00 at a full service car wash.... and about once every coupe of months (or as needed) et the full treatment interior and exterior...
and we're good to go...
have had an Ex since 9-02 or so and have never wahed it myself !

I could be wrong, but when I ordered my '04 Limited the No Boudaries version was not offered. That was what I really wanted. I ended up with the Mineral Grey Limited, which is nearly monochromatic. What I did like about it is the lack of Chrome on the truck. I'm not a chrome fan. |

Lance, I didn't think I would like the tan interior/trim/running boards either and was dissapointed with the severe lack of color choices. However, after getting my 04 Eddie Bauer in blue/tan I have been converted.
The tan exterior trim and boards look sharp, and the two-tone interior leather is the real kicker. Breaks up what would be a large expanse of monotone color inside.
Very nice color combo. Give it a chance. |

I really don't see the point of running boards. I took them off and ditched them under my old house. Its my guess they put them on there for the old ladies. |
