Early versions have a ~2.87" hub flange stickout (pilot), causing the wheels to be lugcentric. Most have ~3.47" (~'87-96) and hubcentric wheels.

Fullsize truck owners love to hate the 8.8", and are often hung-up on the 9", but the 2011 Local Motors' Rally Fighter micro-production 2WD vehicle uses a stock 8.8" with stock TracLok spinning ~33" tires, and is powered by the 430hp/450lb-ft GM E-rod & 4L85E.
